North Springs’ girls lacrosse, soccer, and basketball are in session. Girls soccer and lacrosse had tryouts and conditioning in the last couple of weeks and they are ready to get started. Girls basketball is already in season and are still continuing. Players and coaches are very excited to kick off the season and have high expectations for their teams.
Many players on the girls’ lacrosse team are beginners and excited to start the season. Nina Joshua, a freshman on the girls lacrosse team, said, “I am excited for the new season, and it’s something new for me to learn.” She explained that her goals for the new season are to, “learn more about lacrosse and work to become better every day.” She also mentioned how her coaches have high expectations for the team;: “Our coaches have high expectations for us to continue to grow throughout the season.” Girls lacrosse players seem to have a great season ahead of them and are ready to begin playing.
The North Springs girls’ basketball team has already started its season and also has high expectations set for it. Its members are looking forward to improving their performance as a team and as individuals. Coach Katie Schulessler, the girls basketball coach, said, “Our goal this year was to get better each game as a team and individually. We were not solely focused on wins and losses, but rather improving our fundamental skillset and team chemistry.”
Schulessler added, “We are looking to improve our basketball IQ individually and as a team. The game of basketball is simple and complex at the same time. The more you play and study the game, the easier it is to make a split-second decision in a game.” The girls’ basketball team started off the season well in December and all of its players have a great mindset for the season.
The girls soccer team has just begun their season; they’ve already had one game and have brought back a win for the Spartans. They are working hard this to be competitive this season. Larissa Porfiro, a 10th grade student on the girls soccer team says, “I’m looking forward to working hard, and staying focused, so that we can win.” She also says, “our coach expects us to be focused and determined throughout the season.” The girls soccer team is already starting off on a good note and hope to continue this track. The team won 10-0 against the Weber school during their first game of the season.
All of North Springs’ lady Spartans have a great season ahead of them. They have great goals and expectations for themselves, and great mindsets for the upcoming season.
