I saw Eternals on Sunday, and I was mixed in both my disappointment and my applause. I thought this was going to be another great Marvel movie with great action and a plot that links with the rest of the Marvel Cinema Universe. While the action was great, the plot was lacking severely. It didn’t connect well with the rest of the MCU. As a standalone, however, it has some merits.

On the downside, characters would reference other heroes, but the movie didn’t feel like it fit within the rest of the MCU. You didn’t see any other heroes or villains from any other movies. The characters felt a little too emotional, and some of the scenes were just straight up corny.  Some parts felt very slow when nothing was going on. Granted that is how most Marvel movies often are.  

On the other hand, we got to see important characters from the comics who have not been in the MCU. Another thing that the director Chole Zhao did great was developing the characters on their own. Throughout the movie I learned so much about each character, and by the time I left the movie I could tell you all about them. I also loved seeing so many characters I knew from the comics being introduced into the MCU. The visuals were great and the action was amazing–every fight was beautifully shot, and the CGI made it look super real. I cant wait to see what marvel has up next for these characters, and hope that we will see them interact with the other chjarcaters we’ve come to enjoy seeing.
