This year the Braves won the world series after 26 years of losses. Because of this win, all schools in the metro Atlanta area did not have school Friday November 5th. This means that students got a break from school and got to celebrate a victory. Also, students could catch up on any missing work they may have.
Hundreds of thousands of people gathered in Cobb County and all the way to Truist park to celebrate the victory of the Braves. Floats drove through the streets cheering and playing music. This is one of the first times that Atlanta has truly come together since COVID.
During this long weekend, teachers could also go to the parade; after that they could catch up on some grading and making lesson plans. Teachers could also get a break from teaching us all day and have a relaxing long weekend. Personally, I got extra time to skate and hangout with friends.
I’m not that big of a baseball fan, so I didn’t go to the parade, but I did get to sleep in. I also got a cool Braves champions t-shirt anyway. I think the Braves day also let the Braves know that even though this was the first time they have won in 26 years, we still love and support them, and want to celebrate,
